Back on May 30, when Andy Rubin’s company announced its first smartphone, the Essential Phone, it mentioned that it will start shipping withing 30 days. It’s really not hard to see that more than 30 days have passed since the announcement. Unfortunately, no one seems to have gotten the new handset. Essential did not announce the delay, and it definitely didn’t offer any explanations for it. Those who pre-ordered the smartphone can only patiently wait a little longer. How much longer, nobody knows. However, if it will take too long those who already paid $700 for the smartphone might get a little upset.
It is too early to say that Essential is not able to keep its promise. The company probably had more smartphones pre-ordered than they would have thought. This could be a possible explanation for the delay. Manufacturing a great number of devices does take a long time, especially f they are as great as the Essential Phone. Unfortunately, another possible explanation would be that the company identified issues regarding the functionality of the device. We hope this isn’t the case, however, it is a possibility. The smartphone could also be waiting for FCC and carrier approval. We know that in the US Sprint will be the only carrier to sell the Essential Phone. According to Business Insider, the US carrier could not shed any light on when the handset will become available.
The Essential Phone is definitely worth waiting for. It is a beautiful handset with really thin bezels and a nice, simple design. Its ceramic and titanium body will definitely feel premium once you can get your hands on the device. It will also be quite durable, besides looking great. The 5.7-inch display offers a 1312 x 2560 pixels resolution and a 504ppi pixel density. The handset sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and includes 4GB of RAM. Unlike other smartphones, the Essential Phone will only be available in one storage variant. It will offer 128 GB of internal storage. The smartphone doesn’t feature a microSD card slot, so that’s all users will get. Even so, it should be more than enough for the average smartphone user.
The dual 13MP primary camera and the 8MP front- facing snapper should be able to capture some truly great images. Unfortunately, we won’t know before we get to test them. And at this point, we don’t know when we will get our hands on an Essential Phone unit. The smartphone will come with a 3,040mAh battery that should normally be able to ensure enough battery life to take users through the day. Other features of the Essential Phone include a rear- mounted fingerprint sensor and a really fast Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Overall, the Essential Phone seems to be a great handset. This is why we are eager to get our hands on it and hope that it will start shipping as soon as possible.
