As if the ZTE Axon 7 weren’t one of the coolest handsets out there already, it just received a new update. The Axon 7, which was one of the first smartphones to get the Android 7.1.1 update apart from the Google devices, just got better. ZTE started rolling out a new update to this handset, which comes with a number of new features. The new software update called “Build 25”, will roll out in the next 48 hours to ZTE Axon 7 devices. Probably the most interesting new features will be the enabling of Night Mode and the fact that it will now support up to 256GB of external storage.
Even though these are the most important changes in the software, they aren’t the only ones. The new software update will also allow users to disable some stock apps, it optimizes the “Do Not Disturb” function and fixes a variety of WiFi calling issues. The new build improves device stability and security and offers miscellaneous performance improvements and other fixes too. All of these new features will turn the ZTE Axon 7 into an even greater device. There is one bad surprise in this update, though. It doesn’t contain the April security patches. Given the fact that it is one of the first handsets to get the Android 7.1.1 update, we expected it to get the security patches just as fast too.
ZTE Axon 7 users should keep in mind that it is safer for them to remove their SD card prior to installing the software update. Some of those who got the update reported that the Hiya app would not update correctly. This doesn’t seem to be a general problem, as others reported the update worked just fine on their handsets. This could one issue ZTE will address in their next software update.Until then, ZTE Axon 7 users can enjoy all the new features the company provided them with.
