Ghost girls, microwavable crows, moving mannequins, and blood spattered scripture aside, one of the questions that has lingered on the minds of Resident Evil 7 fans is ‘what on earth do you do with that dummy finger?’
Capcom have finally spoken today, revealing that the dummy finger may well yet have a purpose, but just not at the moment.

As you can see, fans around the globe have received the message from Capcom implying that whilst there may not be a use for the puzzle piece at the moment, there will be one soon. This has obviously started speculation on whether Capcom are going to release further playable levels, or extension downloads for its Beginning Hour demo. Perhaps it’s just an elaborate troll by the developer. The marketing for Resident Evil 7 has been fantastic – the trailer at E3, the demo on PSN; it has all lead up to what many fans hope will be a return to traditional horror. Mysteries like this dummy finger are what keep the spark alive, and what keeps ravenous fans nipping at the heels of the elusive developer. We will have to wait until Capcom reveals further secrets, but until then at least we won’t continue what was essentially a wild goose chase.
Resident Evil 7 will be released on January 24th 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC
