Halo 5: Guardians will receive the biggest expansion yet on June 29th, and for a glorious long weekend, they will get it for free!
The new DLC, entitled ‘Warzone Firefight’ is set to bring a whole host of new features to the game, both in single player and multiplayer modes. The titular new mode – Warzone Firefight – was already released by 343 in open beta format back in April and has gathered a healthy amount of feedback from dedicated players. New bosses and vehicles featured in the new mode include the Grunt Goblin boss character (one of the funnier bosses in the series thus far), the UNSC VTOL, and the AV-49 WASP.
Three New Maps will be included: Attack on Sanctum, Prospect, and Molten. The first will be a map for the Warzone mode and will be set on the covenant homeworld of Sanghelios. The rocky second map, Prospect, was made with Warzone Assault mode in mind. Finally, Molten will be a new Arena mode map – complete with lava stream hazards to punish the clumsier footed players out there.
Along with new REQ items and a new Forge canvas, the DLC will add a Score Attack mode to the single player campaign. This will add a devilishly competitive edge to the single player, no doubt encouraging players to compete against their friends for bragging rights.
As part of 343 Industries Free Play Days promotion, everyone can play Halo 5 for free from June 29th through to July 5th. On top of this, for prospective newcomers to the franchise (or those converted by their free taste), Halo 5 itself will also be half price.
