Bayonetta 3 was a smash hit for the Wii U when it launched last year, garnering critical acclaim and glowing reviews from fans who had been waiting for the sequel to the first game for a long time. Nintendo famously came in and made a deal with Platinum Games to ensure that the company’s in-limbo sequel would be finished and released in return for console exclusivity on the Wii U. However, despite the game’s fantastic success there has been a surprising lack of discussion regarding a potential sequel to Bayonetta 2, though we may have just gotten an ever so slight tease via Twitter.
Thank you everyone for showing Bayonetta so much support. Please continue to look forward to what’s to come!

Platinum Games’ Yusuke Hashimoto took to Twitter to show his thanks for all of the support that Bayonetta has received, while also telling fans to look forward to what is to come. Now this isn’t an outright confirmation of a sequel, but considering that everyone is dying for a sequel and there has been very little news regarding one for a while this is certainly going to draw some attention. This isn’t the first time that developers have let slip little hints of games that are upcoming via social media, so it really isn’t out of the question.
Bayonetta was recently in headlines as she was added by fan request into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS as a DLC character. She has many of the moves featured in the main games, and can even use the ever-popular Witch Time mechanic to slow down time to deal out some devastating damage to her foes. Her inclusion into the game was one of several that took fans by surprise, with the most notable addition to the game’s roster being none other than Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife.
Bayonetta originally launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010 before being ported over to the Wii U with Bayonetta 2 in 2014. If a sequel is in the works it could very well end up being made for Nintendo’s upcoming codenamed NX console, as the company will definitely want some big games ready to launch for the console to avoid the same fate that the Wii U’s poor launch did.
