No one likes to go to the dentist, but it’s a necessary unpleasantry that we must deal with from time to time. So, if you or your kids need to get accustomed to the idea of an upcoming dentist visit, I recommend trying some games on the topic.
These are apps (mostly games for Android) but they help determine kids to keep their teeth clean, so I’d make sure to install at least one of them on their phones.
Dentist Games for Kids
Platform: Android
With a colorful, cute interface and joyful music, this game is designed to get kids accustomed to what happens in a dentist’s office. The player gets to choose which character to treat and they play with different tools while fixing various teeth problems.
Overall, the game is educational, but I wouldn’t recommend it for adults as it gets repetitive after a while.
Time2Brush
Platform: iOS
The kids get to meet Captain AquaFresh, a cool superhero that teaches them everything about brushing correctly. The game is aimed at small children who just started brushing on their own and keeps them engaged with fun animations and songs (if you need more help, here is a useful tutorial for new parents).
The cool part is that kids actually spend two minutes brushing with the Captain, while otherwise they’d be done in under 30 seconds.
Children’s Doctor: Dentist
Platform: Android
The interface is friendly, and the kids get to treat pet’s teeth, which is quite fun. You have a lion with a cracked tooth, a monkey and a hippopotamus with various teeth problems from cavities to deep cleaning.
The reason I recommend this game is that kids (and adults, I have to admit it) get to use a lot more tools than in other similar apps. You also get to install braces, do fillings, and even drill, which kind of gets you into the mood to go visit your dentist.
I also like that they explain certain procedures step by step, at a basic level (visit Healthy Teeth website if you want to know more details) so everyone will understand how certain scenarios progress.
My Dentist Game
Platform: Android
Yet another game oriented towards children (but just as great for adults looking to sooth some childhood fears), makes it clear what everyone in a dentist’s office does. So, you get to practice being a dentist, a hygienist, and an orthodontist, which is rather cool if you ask me.
The interface is kid-friendly, and the colors are designed to keep young players entertained, but I also like the fact that they work on young patients (boys and girls). This way, children playing this game learn that other kids go to the dentist to get their teeth fixed.
Besides being educational, the app also offers some mini-games for when you feel you’ve had enough teeth care for one day.
Dentist Office Salon Party
Platform: iOS
The idea is basically the same as with the games I mentioned above, but I find this app better suited for bigger kids, teenagers, and adults because it has a wide range of scenarios. This way, you don’t get bored doing the same thing over and over again.
I also like that you have more activities to choose from and there are more available tools in your dentist’s kit. I’m also more convinced by the way the characters look (a lot closer to reality).
