Xiaomi might not deliver really high-end devices, like Apple and Samsung, even so, it’s quite a popular company. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer recently announced its latest operating system variant, the MIUI 10. While this will definitely be on the upcoming devices, there are also older models that will get the upgrade with all of its benefits. One of the most impressive features of MIUI 10 is the fact that smartphones will support single camera portrait mode. When the company announced the new software they didn’t disclose a list of models that would benefit from the software update. Now, we have a first list, which will get longer over the next few weeks.
The first Xiaomi smartphones to support single camera portrait mode will be, according to XDA Developers, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Mi Max, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 4 and Note 4X, Redmi 4 and 4X, Redmi Note 3, and the Redmi 5. These are all very popular mid-range models, so there will be a lot of happy Xiaomi fans around in the next period when the MIUI 10 update will reach their handsets. As we already said, this is not a definitive list. other models will also get to support single camera portrait mode in the future. It’s not quite sure yet which models will get the new features and when.
The Xiaomi smartphones on the current list are the ones that didn’t support portrait mode in the past. There are also two models that had this feature, only on their rear camera, like the Xiaomi Mi 6. With the new software update, this particular model will support portrait mode on the front camera. Another model which will support portrait mode, only on the front camera this time, is the Indian Redmi Note 5.
Xiaomi will release the software update to models that aren’t on the list too. However, not every model that gets the update will also support portrait mode. There will be some models which will get the other features of the MIUI 10 but won’t feature single camera portrait mode. Even without this particular feature, Xiaomi devices get more popular each year. This is mainly due to the fact that the smartphones offer more than decent specs for reasonable price tags. Of course, these aren’t high-end handsets. Even so, they are more than all right for the majority of smartphone users. Xiaomi devices usually look great and perform all right. And, of course, they are affordable.
