Samsung is without a doubt one of the most popular electronics manufacturers in the world. Some people know the company thanks to its home appliances, others thanks to its gadgets. Gamers probably know Samsung as the company that seldom delivers gaming laptops but when it does, it brings on the good stuff. The Samsung Notebook Odyssey Z is the tech giant’s latest gaming laptop and we must admit it looks quite stylish for this particular niche. The Samsung Odyssey Z is a thin and good-looking laptop. It isn’t the lightest gaming laptop we’ve ever seen, but even so, with its 2.4kg is rather portable.
The 15.6-inch gaming laptop features an 8th- generation Intel Core i7 processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-P GPU with 6GB of GDDR5 memory. The most impressive configuration of the Samsung Notebook Odyssey Z offers 16GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB NVMe SSD. The only disappointing thing about the gaming laptop is the size of its battery. The Samsung Odyssey Z comes with a 54 Wh battery. Considering the amount of energy gaming laptops consume, this probably won’t be able to ensure an amazing battery life. Then again, the majority of gamers use their adaptors all the time, so this should not be a major inconvenience. Of course, a higher autonomy would be nice.
Naturally, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey Z gaming laptop also features some nice stereo speakers and the backlit keyboard that is now inherent to this kind of laptops. Also, the laptop has a great number of USB ports, so users will be able to connect several gadgets to it in case they need to. What really differentiates the Samsung Odyssey Z from other laptops is its cooling system. In order to maintain the laptop cool, Samsung equipped it with its brand new “Dynamic Spread Vapor Chamber”. This is able to cover both the CPU and the GPU and keep things going without overheating.
Besides the innovative cooling system, Samsung also added two shortcuts to its gaming laptop. One of them is there to start recording gameplay whenever the gamers need it to while the other will take the laptop into Silent mode, reducing the noise it produces down to 22dB.
Even though we now know a lot about the laptop’s specs and features, there is no information regarding its price tag. It’s safe to assume that the Samsung Notebook Odyssey Z will not be a cheap gadget to buy. It should become available for purchase sometime this month in Samsung’s home country and in China. The laptop will reach the US sometime in Q3. Up until now, Samsung did not mention whether the Odyssey Z gaming laptop will reach Europe at some point or not.
