OnePlus started out a few years ago by launching one new handset every year. Then, they introduced the OnePlus X, and in the past two years, there were the T- series devices as well. This year, it seems that after the OnePlus 6 we will also get a new X-series smartphone, the Oneplus X2. While it isn’t clear whether OnePlus will stick with the same moniker or not, it does seem clear that the OnePlus X2 will be a good handset, just not with flagship specs. To be more precise, it will have some flagship features, but it won’t carry this year’s flagship chipset under its hood.
According to rumors, the OnePlus X2 will sport last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset under its hood and it will offer 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal storage. As for its design, it will probably look a lot like the OnePlus 5T, and it will have a 5.5ch display. The handset will reportedly feature facial recognition and it will don a 16MP selfie camera and an 8MP primary shooter. The new model will supposedly feature Dash Charge too, and a 3,000mAh battery will complete the image. Hopefully, it will run Android Oreo out of the box.
While the majority of people believe that the new OnePlus X2 will launch after the company’s flagship device of the year, the OnePlus 6, some are inclined to think that we might actually see the new X-series device a lot sooner. Naturally, it will be more affordable than the company’s flagship handset. To be more exact, rumor hat is that the new OnePlus X2 will sell for around $250, possibly even less. Of course, at this point, these are only rumors and we should take them with a grain of salt. Until now, OnePlus did not state that they are planning to bring back the X series. Naturally, the rumor could prove to be true and we could see the OnePlus X2 after all.
The OnePlus 6 will launch sometime in the summer. By then, we should know more about the new rumored model as well. While it would be nice to have a more affordable OnePlus device on the market, right now it seems a little unlikely that the company will launch it.
