The foldable Samsung Galaxy X is closer to becoming reality than ever before. Reports this week stated that the handset will launch sometime at the end of this year or the beginning of 2019 the latest. The South Korean company reportedly showed off its foldable displays at CES 2018 to a select audience last week. Now, renders of what the final product could look like surfaced on the internet. The images come from a patent filing with the World Intellectual Property Organization. The renders actually resemble older ones that surfaced quite a while back, assuring us that this handset is truly in the works and is going to be exactly the way Samsung promised it to be: foldable.
The foldable Samsung Galaxy X will reportedly have a 7.3-inch display. If you fold this in two, the result is a handset that easily fits into one’s pocket, without compromising on screen size. Samsung is working hard to make the display flexible enough not to show any signs of usage. Of course, this is hard to achieve, and this could explain why it took so long for the South Korean company to perfect its foldable screen. The final result is the one that matters and if the renders show what the Samsung Galaxy X will look like, it is quite impressive.
The new design might be quite appealing, however, it could also come with some serious problems. Older flip phones struggled with problems that regarded wires inside the folding part, and this could also become a problem for the Samsung Galaxy X. Rumor has it that the display of the Samsung Galaxy X will be able to withstand up to 200,000 foldings, which is quite nice. However, whether the other parts of the smartphone will be as durable or not remains to be seen. The good thing is that the project finally seems to come to an end.
In early 2019 at the latest, we will get to see the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy X. Some people believe that it will come with a stylus too, being more similar to the Note series than to the S series. The smartphone will be equipped with a powerful chipset and will offer high-end specs and features. Also, it will probably have a high-end price tag.
