There still is more than a month to go until the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and leaks already surface on a daily basis. The most recent leak is a picture of the retail packaging of the handset. While this doesn’t offer os a glimpse of what the smartphone will look like, it does reveal some specs. The information on the retail packaging confirms that the Samsung Galaxy S9 won’t have a dual rear camera setup, unfortunately. Instead, the Samsung device will feature a Super Speed Dual Pixel camera with a 12MP sensor and optical image stabilization. Also, the box reveals that it will have variable aperture, for low-light and bright conditions as well. The front camera will keep the 8MP sensor we’ve seen in the previous model. These specs are not necessarily surprising, as they have been rumored before.
The retail box also reveals that the smartphone’s camera will be able to capture super slow-motion video. Namely, it will capture 1000 frames per second videos, just like the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Another information that is not surprising at all is that the smartphone will feature a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution. The stereo speaker and free headphones tuned by AKG are also nice features that Samsung fans will definitely love. We don’t know how large the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be but we do know that it will support wireless charging.
Just like last year’s model, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will feature an iris scanner and it will be water resistant. The handset will include 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The retail box doesn’t reveal any information regarding a microSD card slot, but it is a safe bet that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will support additional storage, just like its predecessor. Also, it is highly likely that there will be a 128GB storage variant too. As for the larger Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, it could become available in select markets with Samsung’s huge 512GB internal storage also. Samsung will reportedly announce the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus at the MWC in February. Then we will find out everything there is to know about the handsets.
