The Samsung Galaxy S9 is one of the most-awaited smartphones of the year. The South Korean tech giant finally confirmed that it will officially announce the handset and its larger sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus at the Mobile World Conference that will take place in Barcelona at the end of February. The company also stated that at the time of the launch it will also reveal the release date of the new models. While the Galaxy S-series smartphones are not the ultimate flagships of the company, they are the second best, after the Samsung Galaxy Note devices.
A lot of rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy S9 have surfaced in the past few months. Unfortunately, some of them have been discarded quite quickly. The on-screen fingerprint sensor, for example, will not come with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. Instead, Samsung might bring this feature to the Galaxy Note 9 that will launch in the summer. Even so, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be quite powerful devices. They will come with Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 845 and the Galaxy S9 Plus could offer up to 512GB of internal storage.
Unsurprisingly, the design of the handsets will not change this year. The company just adopted the new design with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in 2017 and it’s probably here to stay. While there are people who don’t particularly like the curved screen of the smartphone and its tall body, others just love the design of the Samsung Galaxy S and Note devices. Another thing that will probably change is the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S9. The upcoming smartphone could finally feature a dual rear camera setup. Also, there is a chance that the new handset’s camera will be overall better than the one featured by the Samsung Galaxy S8 last year.
There are only a few weeks to go until the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. In these weeks, we can expect a lot of information to leak, giving us a complete image of the handsets before Samsung will officially launch them. As soon as we find out more about them, we will let you know too.
