The year is slowly coming to an end but this doesn’t mean that smartphone manufacturers have stopped working. All companies are already working on next year’s models, including Sony. The successors to the Sony Xperia XZ and XZ1 already popped up on the web, revealing some of their specs. Unfortunately, the listings don’t reveal too many details, only the display resolutions and the operating system versions the handsets will be running. We also know that there will be at least six new Sony Xperia models. Two of them will probably be the successors to the Sony Xperia XZ while the others will be the successors of the Sony Xperia XZ1 family.
Clearly, there are two new families coming up. Two of the handsets that recently popped up are the H8116 and H8166. These models will reportedly feature 2160 x 3840 pixel resolution displays and will run Android Oreo out of the box. Also, these will probably be the first Sony Xperia handsets to feature minimal bezels and go for the all-screen design that is now so popular. The other four handsets will be models from the H82XX series. These have the H8216, H8266, H8276, H8296 model numbers. According to the listings, these handsets will sport FullHD displays and will also run Android Oreo out of the box.
Clearly, the models from the H81XX series will be the flagship ones. These will probably come with the most powerful chipset available at the time of their launch and will include enough memory to turn them into zippy handsets. The H82XX series models will have a little less to offer, being the non-premium Sony flagships. It’s not quite clear when these models will launch and what else they will have to offer. Hopefully, they will be true flagship handsets and they will feature a refreshed design.
Without a doubt, we will find out more about the successors to the Sony Xperia XZ and Sony Xperia XZ1 soon enough. Unfortunately for smartphone manufacturers, details rarely become available only at the time of the launch. The specs and features of the upcoming models will certainly leak ahead of the official unveiling of the handsets.
