Essential did not have a great start with the delay in its shipments and all, but it does seem to try to make up for its mistakes. The company seems to be continuously working on ways to improve the user experience ensured by the handset. Also, we shouldn’t forget that the company seriously lowered the Essential Phone’s price a few weeks back. The startup also managed to deliver the long-awaited Android Oreo beta to its users. Now, it delivered a new update for its camera app that brings along some new features and fixes some of the preexistent issues.
The new update was announced on the company’s Twitter page, in a post that also contains a link where users can download the updated camera app from. As it seems, several users already downloaded and tried the new app update and they are pleased with the results. Everyone seems to just love the new portrait mode of the Essential Phone’s camera app. While portrait mode is the most important feature brought along by the camera app update, it isn’t the only thing the update has to offer. It also brings solutions to previously reported issues. The update mainly focuses on fixing stability issues and improving the image quality at the same time. Users will probably easily notice that the new update really does improve the quality of the images It does so by reducing JPEG compression and adding exposure compensation to more camera modes.
While the Essential Phone is a high-end device, its cameras are not the greatest. Now, with the camera app updates Essential has rolled out, things are starting to look better. Even so, it’s not quite clear whether the company will manage to deliver a new model next year. There are some serious problems involving the founder of the company, Andy Rubin, which seem to seriously interfere with the work of the company. A few months back, several employees of Essential have left the ship, in the period of the delays in shipment. Now, a new problem involving the founder of the company could really damage its image. Hopefully, it won’t break it down, and Essential will continue to deliver high-end devices in the future. We would really like to see the second Essential Phone and what it would have to offer.
