The OnePlus 5T, which launched on November 16 is already available for purchase in India. Those who wish to own the latest OnePlus model can buy it from Amazon India or the company’s India Store. Both the 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage version, and the 8GB of memory and 128GB storage variants are available. The former’s price is INR32,999.00, while the latter is a little more expensive, with an INR37,999.00 price tag. These sums translate into $512 and $589 respectively. The OnePlus 5 currently sales for the exact same prices in India, so those who opt for the newer model will not have to make an extra effort to get it.
The OnePlus 5T comes with several new features compared to the company’s previous model. First of all, it embraces the all-screen design we are now so used to seeing, and the 18:9 aspect ratio. The display got larger too, as the OnePlus 5T features a 6-inch screen. The original OnePlus 5 only had a 5.5-inch display. Also, there seems to be an improvement in the quality of the display and of the cameras too. The new model now has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Also, it features facial recognition, which is now very popular. This feature works faster than similar features of other smartphones, however, we don’t know yet whether it is as safe as the one other smartphones offer. Time will certainly tell.
Other than these, the OnePlus 5T offers the same specs as the OnePlus 5 that launched back in the summer. It features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and comes in the same storage variants. It even keeps the audio jack, which many smartphones nowadays lack. Another thing that didn’t change, unfortunately, is the lack of wireless charging support. Instead, the OnePlus 5T only offers fast charging support. This is all right, but wireless charging has become a must in flagship smartphones nowadays, so the fact that the latest OnePlus flagship killer doesn’t offer it is a little disappointing. Surprisingly, the OnePlus 5T comes with the same Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board, while the OnePlus 3 and 3T already got the Android Oreo upgrade. Naturally, the OnePlus 5T will get it, probably quite soon.
