Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor, just announced its latest smartphone, the Huawei Honor V10. The handset is almost as great as the recently launched Huawei Mate 10 Pro, but it is a cheaper device. Of course, the lower price also means that customers will need to compromise on some of the features, such as the Leica cameras, which the Mate 10 Pro features but the Honor V10 doesn’t. Even though the Honor V10 doesn’t feature a Leica camera setup, it does offer a capable primary camera setup, consisting of a 16MP and a 20MP sensor. Also, the smartphone offers a 3.5mm audio jack, which is a nice feature for many smartphone users.
The handset doesn’t feature a full-screen design, instead, it sports a 5.99-inches display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio, and a fingerprint sensor just under the screen. The Honor V10 comes with the powerful Kirin 970 chipset that we’ve seen in the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and it includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. There is also a cheaper variant that offers 4GB of memory and 64GB of internal storage. Given the fact that the smartphone also features a microSD card slot, the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant seems to be the best one for the majority of smartphone users. Other features of the device include fast charging support, Android Oreo, and a 3,750mAh battery.
The Honor V10 is already available for pre-order in China. The handset will officially go on Sals on December 5. On the same date, the company will probably launch the handset in Europe too. The lowest configuration of the handset, including 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, will reportedly cost CNY 2,700, which translates into around $410. The mid-version, with 6GB of memory and 64GB of storage, will have a CNY 3,000 ($450) price tag, while those who go the extra mile and choose the 128GB storage variant will have to pay CNY 3,500 for it. That is roughly $530. Unfortunately, these prices will probably go higher in Europe and in other regions when the smartphone launches there.
Overall, the Honor V10 seems to be a better choice than the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. It offers almost the same specs, only for a lower price. It’s a little unclear why Honor decided to launch a handset that is so similar to the Huawei Mate 10 family, and with a lower price tag. The majority of people will probably go for the cheaper version, considering the fact that it is just as powerful as the Mate 10 Pro.
