The BlackBerry KEYone didn’t become as popular as other flagship smartphones, even so, it has its own fans. Those who just love the QWERTY keyboard of the handset can now rejoice, as another similar device is coming our way. Blackberry and TLC have been working for a while now on the BlackBerry KEYone successor, with model number BBF100-1. This model showed up last month for the first time, on a TCL website. Now, the same model made an appearance on GeekBench too. The new listing only confirms what we have known already, and reveals just how well the BlackBerry KEYone successor performs in tests. Thankfully, it performs just fine.
The Blackberry KEYone successor, possibly named the BlackBerry KEYtwo, will feature the same display resolution as its predecessor, namely 1620 x 1080, and it will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The handset will have double the amount of memory its predecessor did. This means that the new model will offer 6GB of RAM, which is quite impressive, as the KEYone only included 3GB of memory. Naturally, the handset will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Also, it is certain that the BlackBerry KEYtwo will keep the physical keyboard many people prefer.
It’s not quite clear yet when TCL plans on announcing the new handset. The KEYone was announced in February, so it would make sense for the manufacturer to unveil the BlackBerry KEYone successor around the same time next year. There still are months to go until then, so we will probably find out more about the handset ahead of its official unveiling. BlackBerry handsets nowadays take their time before heading to the stores. This will probably be the case with the BlackBerry KEYtwo also, so we might be able to get our hand on this model only sometime in April.
Hopefully, the BlackBerry KEYtwo will have a fair price tag. BlackBerry handsets normally have solid builds and use high-grade materials, and this is exactly what we expect from the BlackBerry KEYtwo as well. It probably won’t be the most affordable handset available on the market, but it should ensure a great user experience, which makes it be worth every cent of its price.
