While the Apple iPhone X seems to be the smartphone of the day, according to a survey conducted in the US, the majority of adults would choose the Samsung Galaxy S8 over it. Market researcher Propeller Insights’ survey concludes that 38% of adults in the US would prefer to get the Samsung Galaxy S8 as a Christmas present instead of Apple’s flagship. f course, there are also 20% who would like to have an iPhone X and 22% would opt for the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus. The survey also reveals that in the case of teenagers, the results are exactly the opposite. The majority of them would prefer to get one of Apple’s latest handsets instead of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Only 28% of them would like to get the Galaxy S8.
Samsung’s latest ad, according to which the Galaxy S8 duo and the Galaxy Note 8 are aiming adults definitely had an impact. Even so, it probably didn’t weigh in as much as the features offered by Samsung’s handsets. The headphone jack and the fingerprint recognition are two of the features adults prefer over the Apple flagship’s wireless earbuds and facial recognition feature. Naturally, the price tags of these smartphones are also more important for adults than for their teenagers. After all, not many teenagers have to pay for their flagship handsets, while the majority of adults do. This is probably why the majority of adults refrain themselves from dreaming of extremely expensive gadgets.
Also, teenagers cope better with new features and the lack of the headphone jack, for example. They are more open to new features and have nothing against letting go of the old ones. Adults just seem to be more comfortable having similar features in their new handsets to the ones they had before. So, if you were planning on making gifts consisting of flagship smartphones this Christmas, you should keep the results of this survey in mind. Of course, no person, adult or teenager, would refuse a flagship smartphone, even if it isn’t exactly the model they were dreaming of.
