A few years back, two smartphone manufacturers tried to introduce a new trend, in the form of curved devices. While the LG G Flex was somewhat successful, the Samsung Galaxy Round didn’t do as well as the tech giant hoped it would. Now, it seems that another company will try to reinvent the curved smartphone. This time around, it is Doogee, who already managed to deliver quite a powerful handset this year, the Doogee Mix. According to famous leakster Evan Blass, also known as @Evleaks, the company is already working on its first curved smartphone. Unfortunately, we don’t know what its official name will be.
While the tweet regarding the upcoming curved Doogee smartphone doesn’t reveal too many details, it does state that it will have some impressive specs. According to the aforementioned source, the smartphone will feature an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, d if the images are real, it will flex in two directions, which is something new compared to what LG had to offer. Also, in his Twitter post, Evan Blass states that the Doogee curved smartphone will include 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. These are flagship specs, so we expect the chipset to be a powerful one too. While we don’t know yet how large the flexible screen will be, we expect it to be quite large.
Samsung is also working on a smartphone that will reportedly be totally flexible. Rumor has it that Apple is going to release a similar product too at some point. Flexible devices just seem to be the high-end products of the future. They will offer users the possibility to have large screens without needing to carry a purse only to accommodate them. The large handsets we use today don’t easily fit into pockets, and they often break when users sit down and forget to pull their handsets out of their pockets. Flexible screens could solve this problem. Also, they are simply cool.
It’s not clear when Doogee will deliver this curved smartphone. It will definitely be sometime next year, but this is quite a large timeframe. Hopefully, we will see it in the first half of 2018. Other great smartphones are coming next year too, so it won’t be easy to choose the next model to purchase.
