HTC launched its current flagship, the U11 back in May and released it in June. The handset impressed a lot of people, however, it could have been better. HTC seems to know this, and that is why the company is going to launch another handset, the HTC U11 Plus next month. The event will take place on November 2, but we already know almost everything there is to know about the upcoming handset. Thankfully, it seems it will be even greater than the HTC U11.
First of all, the HTC U11 Plus will bring along a larger, 6-inch screen, and this time around it will reportedly have an 18:9 aspect ratio. The resolution of the screen also got a little higher, as the HTC U11 Plus will offer a 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution instead of the HTC U11’s 1440 x 2560. This also translates into a slightly higher pixel density. Given the smaller bezels of the new model, the HTC U11 Plus will be only slightly larger than the original U11, despite the 6-inch screen. Also, the U11 Plus will have an IP68 certification instead of the IP67 featured by the HTC U11.
Under the hood, it seems that nothing will change. The HTC U11 Plus will sport the same powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset as its predecessor does. The Plus version will reportedly come in the same configurations too. Customers will be able to choose between a model that includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, and a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version. The dual-SIM model will offer users the possibility to further expand the storage, as they will be able to use the second SIM card slot as a MicroSD card slot. Naturally, the HTC U11 Plus will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
Surprisingly, there seems to be a downgrade in the camera section. While the primary camera’s sensor remains the same, a 12MP one, the secondary camera will only have a 8MP sensor. The HTC U11 donned a 16MP selfie snapper. Unfortunately, the HTC U11 Plus won’t feature the faster Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity either, and it won’t support wireless charging. This is a little disappointing as the majority of flagship smartphones now offer these features. However, the HTC U11 Plus will make up for these omissions with its larger, 3,930mAh battery. Of course, the screen is larger too, so the battery life should be similar to the one ensured by the HTC U11’s battery.
Other than these, the HTC U11 Plus seems to offer the same specs and features as its predecessor does. Unfortunately, we don’t have any official information regarding the pricing and the availability of the upcoming model yet. November 2 is not far away now, so we can wait until the official unveiling of the handset to find out more about it. One thing seems to be sure: it won’t be a disappointment, it will actually be greater than the HTC U11 many people love.
