OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5 in the summer, however, it won’t be the company’s only flagship device of the year. The OnePlus 5T will reportedly launch in November, around the same time the OnePlus 3T launched last year. Similarly to last year’s T model, the changes between the current flagship and the OnePlus 5T won’t be too many. The few ones, on the other hand, will be quite great. The OnePlus 5T will actually have a more modern design than the OnePlus 5. Unfortunately, it won’t get a newer generation processor, like last year’s model did, though.
The OnePlus 5T will reportedly embrace the all-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio the majority of flagship smartphones sported this year. This way, the 5T will finally ditch the rather thick bezels the OnePlus 5 still came along with. Also, due to the design change, the fingerprint sensor will now be rear-mounted. On the OnePlus 5, the fingerprint sensor was on the front of the handset, just beneath the screen, under the physical home button. The screen of the upcoming OnePlus model will be a 6-inch one, with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. The size of the smartphone won’t change too much, as the 5T will have slimmer bezels. The battery will also reportedly get a boost, the OnePlus 5T will sport a 3,500mAh battery instead of the OnePlus 5’s 3,300mAh one.
Other than these, it seems that nothing else will change. Maybe only the price tag of the device. The 5T will come with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset on board as the current flagship does, and it will offer the same configurations, as it seems. The new model will probably become available in two different variants. One of them will include 64GB storage and 6GB memory, while the other will offer 128GB internal storage and a whopping 8GB of RAM. It’s unclear yet whether OnePlus will deliver the handset in a new color variant too or not.
Even though the smartphone will probably launch next month, there are really slim chances that it will hit the stores at launch. It’s more likely that it will become available for purchase sometime in December. Then again, this is only an assumption and we might see the OnePlus 5T on sale before the end of November.
