Living without technology is almost impossible for the majority of us nowadays. Of course, we all admit that people can live without the products we all use on a daily basis, however, it is a lot easier to live with them than without them. The majority of people on the planet use at least one gadget every day. Some people only use a TV set, others also have a smartphone, a laptop, or a tablet. Many have all of them, and some additional gadgets oo. These products invaded our lives over the past few decades slowly but surely. And the majority of us are happy that they did. The next invaders seem to be VR and AR devices.
VR and AR are areas where there still is a lot to work on. Even though there already are a great number of VR headsets that can take us to other dimensions, the work with AR seems to be a little harder and slower. Even so, without a doubt, in a few years time, the majority of people will own at least one AR gadget also. In fact, VR and AR devices might actually take the place of the gadgets we currently use. After all, they can easily replace the majority of them if they are good enough.
For example, with the right AR goggles, one would not need a laptop anymore. Or a smartphone for that matter. Naturally, some people will probably prefer to speak on a handset instead of looking like they talk to themselves while sporting a great pair of glasses. Then again, it’s all a matter of habit and we could get used to seeing people talking to themselves without thinking they have gone mad. Returning to the AR goggles and how they could replace laptops, we need to think a little out of the box. This means that we should think of things we do but imagine doing them in another way.
Now, when we want to check the weather we all go to our smartphones or laptops. With a great AR device, this would not be necessary. We could see the information on the lens of the AR goggles, instead of needing a screen to display it. Some even think that AR devices will not only augment our reality, they will even make us smarter and more capable. The same people consider that everyone will trade in their smartphones for a pair os smarts spectacles in only five years. By 2022, we will all be able to enjoy the benefits of AR on a daily basis. Also, we could shop in augmented reality. Instead of ordering products based on catalogs, we could see them in augmented reality. This could be especially useful when shopping for furniture and decorations.
Besides AR, VR will also have an important role to play in our lives by 2022. Instead of having a TV set, a computer, and a gaming console, we could all go for only a VR headset to enjoy the content we normally watch on TV or a laptop. Even better, instead of only watching something, with the help of VR headsets, we could feel like we are a part of the action that surrounds us. Who would go back to 2D content from that? VR devices could ensure all the entertainment we want and need. Naturally, over the next few years, we will probably find even more ways to exploit VR and AR. We could bring these technologies into almost every area of our lives.
All the major companies are currently working on further developing AR and VR. They will most likely deliver incredible products in the next few years. At this point, the majority of AR and VR devices are not really affordable. However, if they become more popular, their price could become lower and more people could afford them. By 2022, it’s almost certain that every household will welcome at least one device that allows users to explore virtual reality or get lost in augmented reality.
