Xiaomi is always working on something new. Even though the main focus is on its flagship devices, such as next year’s Xiaomi Mi 7, we shouldn’t forget about the budget phones either. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 series is going to launch sometime soon. Now, thanks to leakstar Roland Quandt, we know what storage options they will offer. Also, Quandt revealed the colors the new handsets will become available in. Unfortunately, we still don’t know too much about the exact launch date of the upcoming Xiaomi Redi 5 handsets, however, we do know that they will be available internationally from the start.
There will reportedly be three new models. Rumors regarding the Xiaomi Redmi 5a previously surfaced, and it seems that the handset will be available in two different variants. one of them will offer 16GB internal storage and 2GB memory. The other version will include 32GB of flash storage and 3GB of RAM. As for the color options, the Redmi 5a will reportedly become available in Rose Gold, Gold, Black, and Gray colors. Supposedly, this model will be the least impressive out of the three.
The base model, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will most likely come with a 5-inch Full HD display and will include 16GB or 32GB of storage. Even though there is no mentioning of the amount of memory it will carry, it probably will offer at least as much as the Redmi 5a will. The most powerful model will most likely be the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. It’s not quite clear whether the Plus moniker only hints towards the larger amount of storage or if it will have a larger screen too. What we do know is that the Plus model will include 32GB or 64GB of storage. It’s possible that it will even offer more memory. A version with 4GB of RAM on board would be quite nice.
While the base model will only be available in Gold and Black color options, the Plus might become available in Gray too. At this point, we have no information regarding the pricing of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5 handsets. Even so, it’s safe to assume that they will be affordable devices. Xiaomi’s Redmi note series handsets are usually the more expensive ones and even those are quite affordable. The Redmi 5 series should be even less expensive. Xiaomi will most likely launch them soon, so we will find out more about them then.
