The majority of people own at least one Samsung gadget. Whether it is a smartphone, a home appliance, or a laptop, we rely on them on a daily basis. This is not necessarily dues to the prices, as there are similar products with lower price tags around. People mainly choose the Sout Korean company’s gadgets because of their quality. And the innovation Samsung comes with occasionally. The latest patent filed by the tech giant concerns a Samsung Notebook feature. To be more exact, one of the upcoming Samsung Notebooks, or even more likely, several of them, will not only sport a force touch pad, it will actually be able to recognize in-air gestures.
Samsung applied for the patent at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. This could mean that we would see this technology in the next Samsugn Notebook. Of course, it is also possible that Samsung will not deliver a gadget with this feature after all. However, given the coolness of the feature, it’s safe to assume that we will get to see it sooner or later. We’ve seen smartphones that recognize gestures, however, we have never seen one that can detect in-air gestures and act accordingly.
It seems that the technology relies on an electronic device that uses a multi-layer panel. Several electrodes are placed in different layers of the panel, and this way, they create an electromagnetic field. Several controllers will detect motion in this electromagnetic field and will react to it. Thanks to this, users won’t actually need to touch the pad, they only have to be close enough for it to detect the motion in the electromagnetic field. The technology should be smart enough, in the end, to know when the motion is intentional or unintentional. naturally, whenever the Samsung Notebook’s touch pad will decide that it is an unintentional closeness, it won’t react to the motion.
Whenever we think that technology can’t get any more amazing, tech companies prove us wrong. A touch pad that can recognize in-air gestures might seem to be unnecessary, however, it could prove to be extremely useful whenever our hands are dirty, for example, or we just don’t want to touch the pad. We are eager to see which Samsung Notebook model will be the first to offer this feature. Hopefully, it will be the upcoming one.
