Just when we thought that we know everything there is to know about Google’s upcoming handsets, new rumors surfaced. They hint towards a third device, dubbed the Google Ultra Pixel. Initial rumors regarding Google’s 2017 smartphones also suggested there will be three new handsets, however, one of them seemed to have disappeared from the lineup. Now, it surfaced again and it seems to be quite an interesting one. It’s not quite clear whether the Google Ultra Pixel is indeed going to launch next week alongside the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, however, if it will, it means that Google really can keep a secret.
The information came from an unknown source to a Youtube channel. The source revealed a picture of a Google presentation, showing the Google Ultra PIxel in all its glory. The mysterious handset seems to have an almost bezel-less design and it also seems to be quite slim. The same source who leaked the image also revealed that the smartphone will sport a dual camera system, which wasn’t in the cards for the Google Pixel 2 or the Pixel 2 XL. Rumor also has it that the Google Ultra Pixel’s fingerprint sensor will be embedded under the screen. This is quite a surprising feature as no other flagship has it. Google rarely comes with something so innovative. This is exactly why we need to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
It’s quite hard to believe that Google managed to keep a third device under wraps for so long, especially with this kind of specs. Of course, the existence of the Google Ultra Pixel is not entirely out of the question. The rumors could be true. is also possible that the Ultra Pixel moniker refers to the Google Pixel 2’s HTC “UltraPixel” camera, not to an entirely new handset. The new fingerprint sensor could also be a slightly improved version of the sensor used in last year’s models too. One thing is sure: in less than a week Google will confirm or contradict the latest rumors. If there is a third Google handset, we will see it on October 4.
