Google will hold a big launch event for the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 on October 4. Besides the two new handsets, the tech giant will reportedly also launch a new Google Home device, the Home Mini. As its name suggests, the Home Mini will be the smaller version of the smart speaker Google launched last year. The Mini will have all or at least the majority of the features offered by the original Google Home. The device will come in three color variants and it will reportedly have a $49 price tag. Even though this is a nice gadget to own, the Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 will definitely be the main attractions of the launch event.
Recent leaks revealed that the smaller Pixel 2 will become available in three color variants, an interesting shade of blue, black, and white. The PIxel XL 2 will only come in two variants, a full black one, and a white and black combination. Unfortunately for some, the leaks also shed some light on the pricing of the upcoming Google handsets. While the Pixel 2 will have the same price as its predecessor did and will actually offer more for the money, the Pixel XL 2 will be almost as expensive as the Apple iPhone X is. The 64GB model of the Pixel XL 2 will cost $849 and the 128GB version’s price will be $949. The smaller Pixel will offer the same storage options, for lower prices. The 64GB variant will cost $649 while the 128GB model will set customers back $749.
Naturally, both the Google Pixel 2 and the PIxel XL 2 will come with the most powerful chipset on board and will include at least 4GB of RAM. The design of the handsets did change a little, however, the change is not as impressive as it is in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the iPhone X. Then again, Pixel fans don’t normally buy the smartphones for their design but for their stock Android operating system. The upcoming smartphones will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and they will probably be a delight for Android lovers. There are only a few days to go until October 4, when we will get to see the Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 in all their glory.
