Back in August, Fossil announced its third-gen Q Venture and Q Explorist smartwatches. At the date of the unveiling, the company said the gadgets will reach stores starting September 24. Even though there still are a couple of days to go until then, both smartwatches are already on sale on the company’s website. Customers can choose between thirteen different variants of the two smartwatch models. Some of them are already available for purchase, others are available for preorders only at this point. The latter will ship on September 24. The price of the smartwatches is $255 or $275, depending on the model and strap customers opt for.
The third-gen Fossil Q Venture seems to be the simpler model, at least at first glance. The smartwatch only has one button on the side, so it looks more delicate than the sportier- looking Explorist. The Q Venture has a full- round digital display and is available with a great number of straps. Some of them are made of leather, others have stainless- steel bracelets. They do have one thing in common: they all look nice and turn this gadget into a fashion accessory. The smartwatch runs Android Wear 2.0. It is compatible with smartphones running Android KitKat or higher or iPhones running iOS 9 or higher.
Just like any other smartwatch, the Fossil Q Venture features activity tracking, notifications, and a battery that can last for up to 24 hours on a single charge. Users can customize the watch face to their liking, and they can also easily change the watch’s strap to change their look. The Fossil Q Venture supports wireless charging and enables users to wirelessly sync their timepiece with their smartphones. The charger is available for $25.
The Fossil Q Explorist has a more rugged design with three side buttons instead of the one delicate button of the Q Venture. Even so, the smartwatch doesn’t look too sporty, so users can wear it to almost any occasion. Just like the Venture, the Explorist is available with stainless steel or leather straps. While there are eight different variants of the Venture, there are only five variants of the Explorist. It offers the same built-in fitness tracker as the other model and it is compatible with the same smartphones. Naturally, the Fossil Q Explorist runs Android Wear 2.0, just like its sibling. The third-generation Q Explorist allows users to receive notifications regarding social media platforms, text messages, emails, and app alerts.
Users can easily change the watch face and the straps of the smartwatch. They can vocally activate Google, enable Google Maps on the gadget and there is even an LED flashlight they can use. Both models are available on Fossil’s website and they will probably hit offline stores soon too.
