Last month Nokia unveiled its flagship handset, the Nokia 8. Even though it has some impressive specs, we have to admit that the design of the smartphone was a little dated. The Nokia 9 will reportedly come with similar specs, however, it will have a more modern design. Renders of the smartphone recently surfaced, showing us an almost all- screen design, similar to the one sported by other current flagships. The Nokia flagship will have the same almost inexistent bezels on the sides and a little thicker ones on the top and bottom as the Galaxy S8 has. Even though there are many similarities between the Nokia 9 and other current flagship smartphones, it seems that HMD Global’s handset won’t feature the same 18:9 aspect ratio. At least, it doesn’t seem that way according to the renders.
Under the hood, the Nokia 9 will have the same processor as the Nokia 8 has. It is a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset paired with an Adreno 540 GPU. Aor the memory and internal storage, there is a high chance that the upcoming flagship will offer only what the Nokia8 does: 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. Of course, the smartphone will probably feature a microSD card slot, so users will be able to further expand the storage of the device. One thing that might actually change is the operating system. The Nokia 9 will most likely run Android 8 Oreo out of the box.
Just like the current Nokia flagship, the Nokia 9 will sport a dual rear camera setup. It will probably have exactly the same sensors as the Nokia 8 does, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. The RGB and monochrome IMX 258 sensors are great, so this feature doesn’t really need a change. Due to the lack of bezels, the fingerprint sensor of the Nokia 9 will be on the back of the device, not under the screen. According to the latest rumors, the handset will come with a 5.3-inch display, just like the Nokia 8. This could change, as everyone expected the flagship to don a larger display than the Nokia 8.
The Nokia 9 will reportedly have a waterproof body. As for its price, some say it will cost somewhere around €750. It’s not quite clear when HMD Global will launch the new handset. Hopefully, it will arrive just in time for the holiday season. As soon as we find out more about the matter we will let you know.
