HMD Global has brought back the Nokia into our attention. The company unveiled a number of handsets this year, the majority of them with really nice specs. Even though don’t have the most modern design, they do strike us as being reliable, solid smartphones. Even the least impressive model, the Nokia 3, has decent specs for its price tag. The company doesn’t seem to stop just yet, according to rumors it will release an entry-level handset too, the Nokia 2. If rumors are true, “entry- level” is definitely not an understatement for the Nokia 2. Even low- budget phones have better features, and the Nokia 2 will reportedly cost somewhere around €120.
The leaked press renders of the handset show a device with really thick bezels and with a set of capacitive buttons. Naturally, there is no fingerprint- sensor on the smartphone and there is a single primary camera sensor on the back. The back camera will most likely sport an 8MP sensor while the front- facing one will have a 5MP one. Things get a little more disappointing when we look at the power section. The Nokia 2 will reportedly come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 or 212 chipset and will include 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage. To be honest, I haven’t seen these specs for a while now, not even in budget-friendly smartphones. 1GB of RAM is bad already but 8GB internal storage is downright disappointing, coming from Nokia.
The Nokia 2 won’t be all bad, though. According to rumors, the smartphone will have a 4,000mAh battery and will run Android Nougat out of the box. The 4.7-inch or 5-inch 720p display of the handset probably won’t use up too much energy so the huge battery should be able to take users through several days on a single charge. As I already mentioned, the smartphone is believed to cost somewhere around €120. This is not necessarily a small price to pay for these specs, then again it is a Nokia handset. They usually have a solid build and it could be the same with the Nokia 2 also. We will see exactly how it is when HMD Global unveils it.
