The BlackBerry KEYone might have launched only a few months ago, but its successor is already on its way. The BlackBerry Krypton is in the works and it already cleared FCC and Bluetooth certification. The upcoming BlackBerry device will reportedly launch sometime in October. Even though TCL managed to keep the majority of the upcoming handset’s features a secret, some of them still leaked so we know one or two things about the Krypton. First of all, we know that it won’t be coming with a QWERTY keyboard. Instead, it will have an all touch design. Hopefully, it will be a modern one, with slim bezels. There will be a home button under the screen, so an edge- to- edge screen is out of the question. The aforementioned home button will also house the device’s fingerprint sensor.
Just like in the case of the KEYone, TCL won’t deliver the BlackBerry Krypton with a high- end processor. Instead, the Krypton will ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 on board. There were also rumors suggesting a Snapdragon 625, however, the 626 seems to be more likely. The smartphone will probably include 4GB of RAM. This is more than entry- level handsets have to offer, but less than flagship devices do. Even so, it is enough to turn a smartphone into a fast device. We don’t know yet how large the display will be but it seems it will have a full HD resolution. The current BlackBerry flagship has an LCD panel and it’s not really likely we’ll see the upcoming one with an OLED screen either.
The BlackBerry Krypton will reportedly come with a 4,000mAh battery. It will most likely support fast charging, so users probably won’t have anything to complain about when it comes to battery life and the time they have to spend charging it. Naturally, TCL will once again deliver a BlackBerry handset running Android. It will be the Android nougat, not the Oreo, unfortunately. The waterproof handset will probably come in silver and black color options. We don’t know yet how much it will cost, but BlackBerry fans should consider the fact that these products are never cheap. The BlackBerry Krypton will definitely not be a budget- friendly device either.
Even if TCL hides information regarding its upcoming device better than other manufacturers, we will probably find out more about the BlackBerry Krypton ahead of its launch. As soon as we know more about the handset, we will let you know. Until then, your guess is just as good as ours.
