Xiaomi is reportedly working on a new handset that will run stock Android. The company is closely working with Google on developing the new smartphone. Even though we don’t know as much as we would like to about the new device, we do know that it is called the Xiaomi Mi A1. Also, according to the latest reports, the upcoming smartphone will feature an all screen display. This is a popular design right now, so there is no surprise there. Even so, probably the most appealing feature of the handset will be its operating system. There are only a few smartphone models to run stock Android and the combination between the price of Xiaomi devices and the operating system in its purest version should be a nice one.
At best, the Xiaomi Mi A1 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. Unfortunately, there is a high chance that it will only come with a weaker processor than that. In the end, Xiaomi will probably go with the Snapdragon 625 SoC. This is a good chipset, but we have to admit, it’s far from being a flagship one. Even so, it is able to ensure a good user experience and it also allows Xiaomi to maintain a reasonable price tag for the upcoming device. Of course, the new handset will also sport a dual rear camera setup, which is present in almost every new model.
As for the size, the Xiaomi Mi A1 will probably have a 5.5-inch display, just like the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 5X. Thanks to the all screen display, it could be slightly smaller than the Mi 5X. However, that model already has really thin bezels so the difference should not be a great one. According to rumors, Xiaomi will unveil the Android One handset on September 5. At this point, we don’t have any information regarding the availability or the pricing of the handset. As soon as we find out more about the matter we will let you know.
