Even though Qualcomm is probably the most popular chipset manufacturer, Samsung doesn’t like to stay behind either. The South Korean tech giant is working on three new chipsets. Two of them leaked recently, unfortunately, we only know the name of the third one. The Exynos 9610 and the Exynos 7885 are definitely coming our way next year. Rumor has it that Samsung’s 2018 flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will sport the mysterious Exynos 9810. According to the latest reports, we will definitely have an octa-core and a hexacore chipset. It’s not quite clear what the Exynos 9810 will be like at this point.
The upcoming Exynos 9610 chipset will be manufactured on Samsung’s 10nm LPE technology. This indicates that it will be a higher- end mobile platform. The chipset will have a clock speed of 2.4GHz and will come with Mali-G71 GPU and Full Netcom. The chipset will carry four A73 cores and four A53 ones, making it really fast and powerful. Given the fact that the Galaxy S9 will supposedly ship with the Exynos 9810, it’s not quite clear which model will be the first to rock this SoC.
The Exynos 7885 is the weaker chipset from this lineup. It will be built on the same 10nm LPE technology, however, it will only have six cores. The Exynos 7885 will offer two A73 cores and four A53 ones. Also, it will have a lower clock speed. 2.1GHz to be more exact. In terms of GPU, it will offer the same Mali- G71 GPU and Full Netcom as the Exynos 9610. According to reports, we will first see this chipset on board of the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). Previous reports suggested that the Exynos 7885 will also have eight cores so we should take the latest information with a grain of salt.
One thing is sure, Samsung is working on some really powerful chipsets. We will first see them in handsets that are going to launch next year. It’s only normal that the upcoming smartphones will be more powerful than the current ones. After all, the possibilities are almost endless when it comes to technology. We can’t wait to see how fast the new processors will be. We are also eagerly waiting for more details about the Samsung Exynos 9810 chipset.
