Apple is definitely taking its time when it comes to releasing new hardware. Thankfully, the result is usually worth waiting for. The iPad Pro mini or iPad mini 5 is one of the devices that are long overdue as its predecessor launched almost two years ago. A new mini iPad will surely have a great number of fans as soon as it launches. Unfortunately, it seems that we will have to wait until the fall to see the new gadget and what it will offer. Many people hoped that we will at least get a glimpse at the iPad Pro mini at the WWDC 2017, but Apple did not give us this pleasure earlier this month. Hopefully, the Cupertino-based company will unveil the new tablet together with the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus this autumn.
There is also a chance that we won’t get a new iPad Pro mini after all. Rumors have it that Apple might give up on this model altogether. The tech giant recently unveiled three new iPads, a 12.9-inch, a 10.5-inch and a 9.7-inch one. There is a chance that these will be all the iPad devices we will see this year. However, there still is a possibility for the company to release a new iPad Pro mini, and we hope it will.
In terms of design, the iPad Pro mini will most likely be very similar to its predecessors. Ever since the first iPad mini launched there were no major changes brought to the looks of the device. There is a high chance that this won’t change this year either and the iPad mini 5 will look a lot like the iPad mini 4. One foreseeable change could be in the thickness of the new device. Apple tends to deliver thinner and thinner devices with every new generation. A 7000-series aluminum chassis could also be in the cards for the iPad Pro mini. Also, being a pro device, the iPad Pro mini could feature a Smart Connector.
The looks might be important, but the power is even more important in a gadget like the iPad Pro mini. It will definitely be more powerful than its predecessor, the iPad mini 4 was. Even an Apple A9 processor could turn this new gadget into a faster one than its predecessor was. However, we are inclined to believe that Apple will go the extra mile and will equip the new iPad mini 5 or iPad Pro mini with an A10 Fusion processor at least. The faster A10X Fusion would be an even greater addition to the handset. Also, we believe that the device will offer at least 32 GB of internal storage, with 64 GB and 128 GB versions also coming to the market. Naturally, the new device will run on iOS 11 out of the box.
One thing is sure, the iPad Pro mini won’t be a cheap device. When it launched in 2015, the iPad mini 4 had a $399 starting price. The iPad mini 5 will definitely be more expensive. The new gadget’s starting price will probably be somewhere around $470, if not higher. Naturally, the final pricing depends on the storage options offered and the processor it will come with. Also, if Apple will add 3D Touch and water resistance to the equation, there is a high chance that this price will grow a lot more.
