Apple’s WWDC 2017 will take off soon. While we expect the Cupertino- based company to announce some hardware at this conference, we don’t really expect it to tell us more about the upcoming iPhones. Thankfully, three Foxconn employees have shared their information with Reddit users recently. They didn’t tell us all there is to know about the iPhone 8, but they did clear some aspects. Also, the trio shared information regarding other upcoming Apple devices with the interviewers. According to the Foxconn employees, Apple is going to abandon one of its major projects, the Apple Glasses. This is quite surprising now that AR and VR hardware is becoming more and more popular.
The employees, whose information could not be verified, also told Reddit users that the company’s Siri Speaker will come with an A9 processor. However, it won’t be the exact same process users found in the iPhone 6S, it’s a modified one. They didn’t confirm the fact that Apple will debut its smart speaker at the conference, but they didn’t deny it either. Unfortunately, the sources did confirm that at this point, Apple discontinued the MacBook Air. We hope this won’t be a permanent decision and Apple will reconsider it at some point in the future. As for the Macbook Pro, we only managed to find out that we won’t get one with a full touchscreen anytime soon. Unfortunately, this year’s iMac won’t be a jaw-dropping appearance either.
When it comes to iPhones, thankfully we could get more innovation out of Apple. While the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus which are already in the works, will probably only be minor upgrades compared to last year’s iPhone 7, the iPhone 8, also known as the iPhone X, should be a totally new handset. Rumor has it that the iPhone 8 will have a really large, almost bezel-less screen. Under it, there will be a fingerprint sensor. Until recently, some reports stated that the iPhone 8 will come with the fingerprint sensor on the back cover. Now, it becomes more and more certain that it will be embedded in the screen. Other rumors suggested a glass and metal body which will look amazing.
The Foxconn trio confirmed the fingerprint sensor’s placement. They also revealed that the iPhone 8 will not feature a USB Type-C connector. Instead, Apple’s anniversary flagship smartphone will don a Lightning port. Naturally, it will come with the company’s newest chipset and will run on the latest version of iOS. Unfortunately, it seems that the production of the handset was delayed. The insiders did not mention just how much delay we’re are speaking of. Until recently, optimistic sources still stated that the iPhone 8 will launch in September. Of course, it’s still possible for Apple to unveil it then, but the handset will actually become available a lot later, just before the end of this year.
The truth is, we are all really curious to see what Apple is working on. The iPhone 8 should be one of the flagship smartphones of this year. Given the fact that other smartphone manufacturers already wowed us with amazing handsets, the bar is set quite high this year. We area eager to see whether Apple will manage to surprise us with a truly amazing handset or not. What do you think about the matter? How will the new iPhone 8 be?
