The Apple iPhone 8 is one of the most controversial handsets of this year. There are a lot of rumors out there, but they usually seem to contradict one another. Some people say the iPhone 8 won’t even arrive this year. Others state that it will launch in September. Some rumors suggest a glass back, others don’t. According to some, the TouchID sensor of the device will be embedded in the screen, others consider that Apple will go for a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor instead. The truth is until Apple will officially unveil the handset, we won’t know anything for sure.
This week two sets of images depicting the Apple iPhone 8 surfaced. This would be a great news if they didn’t differ from one another. This way, they are only here to make us wonder which one is accurate. if at least one of them is that is. The first set of images, that made an appearance on Weibo, depicted the iPhone 8 with the TouhID sensor on the back of the device. Also on the back, we can see the dual rear camera setup, placed in the upper corner of the back cover. Unlike the majority of other smartphone manufacturers, it seems that Apple will opt to place the sensor one above the other, instead of next to each other. At least this feature seems to remain constant in every render of the upcoming handset.
On the other set of images, however, the fingerprint sensor seems to have vanished from the back of the device. In this case, it’s safe to assume that Apple will embed it under the touchscreen. If we are to believe the latest rumors concerning this matter, the second pair of images seems to be the more accurate one. Even though a few weeks back reports said that Apple is struggling with embedding the fingerprint sensor under the screen, more recent ones suggest that this problem was solved. In this case, we might actually get only the camera setup on the back cover of the Apple iPhone 8.
There are also contradictions regarding the materials used on the back of the handset. Normally, the Apple iPhone 8 should have a glass back cover, for wireless charging purposes. However, the leaked images show a device without any glass on the back. Of course, it is possible that the leaked images show a previous prototype of the upcoming Apple flagship smartphone. The final product might actually come with a glass back cover.
The images that recently surfaced also disclose information regarding the color options offered by Apple. If the images prove to be accurate, we will finally get a white Apple iPhone 8. Also, it seems that the rose gold color option will not be available with the new handset. instead, Apple could offer white, black, and gold iPhone 8 variants only. One thing seems to be sure: the Apple iPhone 8 will be an eye-catching smartphone. Besides this handset, Apple is also supposed to release an iPhone 7S and an iPhone 7S Plus this year. We are eager to see what the Cupertino-based company has prepared for us. There are only a few months to go until Apple will launch this year’s iPhones, so it’s safe to assume that many more rumors will surface in the upcoming weeks.
