Any product from Apple is something that is highly-anticipated by consumers, with the iPhone 8 being no different. The company typically makes their big iPhone announcements during the Fall, with fans finally getting to see what Apple has to offer with their latest device. However, fans will be disappointed to learn that Apple’s next phone will not be launching worldwide, but instead will be a Korean-exclusive.
The company made the announcement early this morning, claiming that they are making this shocking move as a way to improve the relationships between North and South Korea. “We know that millions of our fans around the world are going to be very disappointed to hear that they won’t be getting the iPhone 8,” said Apple’s Tim Cook. “But rest assured that it will be the key to easing the tension between North and South Korea. The iPhone has the power to end long-standing feuds, and the iPhone 8 will do just that for Koreans.”
“Kim Jong-un threatened to nuke us if we didn’t agree to this deal, so there’s that, too…” added Cook.
He goes on to say that, due to the lack of an iPhone 8 for most of the world, they will be quickly moving on to the next version of the phone to make up for it. “iPhone 9 is already in the works, but we’ll be fast-tracking its production to have it ready for launch this holiday season. We aren’t ready to share any of its specs just yet, but rest assured that Apple fans will be very happy with what we’ve come up with for the device.”
I have to admit, I was absolutely stunned when I heard that Apple would only be releasing the iPhone 8 in Korea. It’s going to be very interesting to see what kind of backlash this will lead to from fans, and whether or not they decide to ditch iPhone entirely for the new Galaxy S8.
Fortunately, they won’t have to do any of that, because this is an April Fools’ Day joke!
