Apple’s macOS 10.12.5 Sierra Public Beta is now available to download for free through the company’s Beta Software Program. It was only yesterday when the company released the first public beta of iOS 10.3.2 for users to try out, and now the company is putting out a rough draft of their latest macOS for users to help test.
As is always the case when utilizing beta software, be very careful when downloading the software and use it on a device that isn’t your daily driver if possible. Seeing as this software is unfinished, it’s very possible that their could be some serious issues with it that could cause harm to the device you run it on. Make sure you’ve saved everything beforehand and have all of your important files backed up in a secure location. However, if you’re perfectly clear on the risks, then we’ll tell you how to get up and running with the new OS.
First of all, you’re going to need to go to the beta.apple.com website, which will then ask you to log in with your Apple ID. Once you’re logged in, the next step is to click on the “Enroll Your Device” button at the top of the page and click on macOS. All that’s left to do is follow the on-screen instructions and the new OS will be installed on your device, which will then require you to reboot your computer in order to complete the installation process.
It doesn’t seem like this latest version of the OS will be making any major changes, as the release notes accompanying the beta simply say that it “improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac.” This should mean that users who elect to test it out are less likely to run into any major issues, but they also shouldn’t expect to see any truly noticeable improvements compared to the previous version.
