The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has received another update on both the Switch and Wii U, though we’re still a little unsure of what exactly Nintendo has done to improve the game. According to the update’s single line of patch notes, “adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.” Most seem to have been having a pleasant time with the game already, but we won’t be picky.
Nintendo giving vague descriptions for updates for their games is nothing new, as they typically don’t release lengthy patch notes detailing every little thing that they have done. However, players themselves end up discovering what the updates have ultimately done not too long after they go live, which will likely be the case with this one. With the last update it was discovered that some of the framerate issues have been addressed on the Nintendo Switch version, but not for the Wii U version. Maybe this patch will make those changes in the Wii U version?
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launched last month for the Switch and Wii U, and quickly became one of the highest-reviewed games of all time. Many cited that Nintendo’s take on the open world formula that is so popular these days was a game changer, and one that other open world games will be taking note of going forward. Both versions of the game have gotten an equal amount of praise, meaning that Wii U owners that don’t plan on getting a Switch anytime soon won’t be left out in the cold.
The game is already a massive experience, but it’s one that will only be getting bigger as time goes on. Nintendo revealed earlier this year the game’s expansion pass, which costs $19.99 and will bring several things to the game. You get 3 treasure chests added to the game immediately when you purchase it, but there will also be two DLC packs that add substantial content to the game throughout the year. DLC pack 1 is set to launch this Summer and adds the Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode, and a new feature for the in-game map. DLC pack 2 will arrive this holiday season and adds a new dungeon, an original story, and even more new challenges.
