The Oculus Rift is, without a doubt, one of the best VR headsets available right now. The user experience is great, however, many users complain about the fact that cable that connects the headset to their PC is a little too short, so it doesn’t give them the freedom of movement they would like to have. The Accell USB-C VR Adapter comes to solve this problem and it does a great job at it. The little gadget doesn’t enable users to take their VR headsets wherever they want to, but it does grant them another 8 feet (2.5 meters) of space, which for the majority of them should be more than enough.
Naturally, PCs need to have a USB Type-C port in order to work with the Accell USB-C VR Adapter. Also, they need to support NVIDIA GTX 970 graphics card equivalent or greater and they have to run Windows 10. Whenever the cable of the VR headset is not directly connected to the PC there is a chance that not every feature will work perfectly. This is not the case with the Accell USB-C VR Adapter. While other extension cables adapters may cause problems with the audio features, the Accell adapter ensures enough power for the gadgets to all work together seamlessly. When using this adapter, users will get a perfectly working system, and a lot more room to move in.
The device is extremely easy to use, users just need to plug everything in and they can begin their game. It doesn’t need any additional software in order to work, however, if users don’t want to encounter any kind of problems when using this gadget it is important for them to always update their computer’s operating system and their VR headset alike.
While the Accell USB-C VR Adapter is an Oculus-ready gadget, it doesn’t only work with this type of VR headset. The device is also compatible with other gadgets, such as the HTC Vive, Samsung Odyssey Plus, HP WMR, Acer WMR, Asus WMR, Dell Visor, Lenovo Explorer, and other Windows Mixed Reality headsets. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with the Oculus Rift S, so if you own one of those babies, this is not the adapter for you.
All in all, the Accell USB-C VR Adapter is a great gadget to own. The 8 feet extra space it grants might not seem much at first glance but the truth is, the majority of people don’t really need any more than this, as the average rooms are not big enough to allow users to move even further from their computers while playing games. However, the extra 8 feet can seriously improve the user experience one would normally get by only using the cable of their VR headset. The adapter is not really cheap, having a $49.99 price tag, but for those who cherish their freedom to move around will definitely be worth every single cent.
