The PS4 version of Cuphead won’t download its anniversary update later today. Since StudioMDHR was the first to play the game at launch, it called its latest content a “love letter” to Xbox. Three years later, Cuphead was ported to PS4 in July 2020, but its DLC, The Delicious Last Course, arrived simultaneously.
The brutal side-scroller’s PS4 players are lucky because the new content is mild. The updated menu includes a free art gallery, music player, and behind-the-scenes clips. “This content will include over 100 hi-res photos extracted from the MDHR archives, showing never-before-seen concepts and unused art pieces, and the entire Cuphead soundtrack,” Xbox Wire reports.
Co-director Chad Moldenhauer said: “No amount of thanks feels like enough for the Xbox community’s kindness and support since Cuphead’s first teasers and snippets. This update is a small token of our gratitude, and we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did making it!”
In our July 2020 Cuphead PS4 review, we praised its stunning graphics, catchy soundtrack, and diverse boss fights. “Whenever a tough section frustrates you, a great animation or attack will delight you.” Your reaction to this decision?
