The PlayStation 4 had a fantastic year in 2017, with lots of great games being released that ended up being some of the best that the console had to offer. The console started 2017 off with plenty of solid games to check out, and it looks like that could be repeated in 2018. Here’s a list of 5 games we’re looking forward to playing this month.
The Inpatient (1/23)
We’re starting our list off with a game that has the potential to bring the scares, as The Inpatient is a psychological horror game set 60 years prior to the events of Until Dawn. You play the game in a first-person perspective as you control a patient suffering from amnesia within the Blackwood Sanatorium, who is trying to reclaim their memories. The outcome of the story is entirely consequent upon the decisions made by the player, which will hopefully lead to some interesting story paths.
Lost Sphear (1/23)
Tokyo RPG Factory is set to make a comeback with Lost Sphear, which is the follow-up to their debut called I Am Setsuna. It looks like the new game will be similar to the aforementioned one, containing a retro visual style and gameplay. However, this time players will control a group of friends that are trying to save their home town from a deadly fog. Hopefully Tokyo RPG Factory delivers another winner with this one.
Monster Hunter: World (1/26)
It’s hard to not to be excited for this next game, as it marks the first time that the Monster Hunter series has appeared on a home console in many years. While the most recent games in the series have been a big success on 3DS, the much more powerful PlayStation 4 will allow for even bigger and better worlds and gameplay that is incredibly promising.
Dragon Ball FighterZ (1/26)
If you had told me that I would be anticipating a Dragon Ball Z game last year I would have looked at you like you had 17 freakin’ heads, yet here we are. The game wowed crowds at E3 2017 with its visual style that is a dead ringer for the beloved anime, and the gameplay seems to be following suit. Developed by the team that is known for delivering great fighting games (Arc System Works), it looks like this will be one of the best DBZ games of recent memory.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (1/28)
The final game on our list is the long-awaited Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, which will be the first entry in the series in several years. This game has been available in Japanese arcades for quite a while now, but now PS4 gamers will finally be able to see what all the fuss is about. It will also be the first game in the series that will be on a home console, with the first two being PSP-exclusives. This one’s our most anticipated PS4 game of the month despite the stiff competition.
That will do it for our list of 5 PS4 games to check out in January 2018. If there’s a game that you’re looking forward to that isn’t on this list, then be sure to let us know in a comment below. Also, be sure to check out our list of 4 Switch games to look forward to in January 2018.
