Speaking in an interview with IBTimes, Naughty Dog’s director of communications, Arne Meyer, discussed the length of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, saying that it may be around 10 hours long.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy began life as a DLC expansion pack to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. When creating the story, the team at Naughty Dog found it difficult to limit themselves. Meyer explained that, “There’s no way we could, sort of, constrict and restrain ourselves, and that’s exactly what was happening here.”
A lengthy story for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, would be a far cry from Naughty Dog’s previous standalone expansion – The Last of Us: Left Behind – whose story was around 2-3 hours. Meyer indicated that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was intended to be a shorter experience, explaining to IBTimes: “When we were doing story pitches, we were coming up with a game that would be over ten hours long and so we suddenly realized everything we said was true and we couldn’t keep it short.”
This will also be the first Uncharted game to not feature series star Nathan Drake, who sailed off into the sunset following the conclusion of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Instead, Naughty Dog have decided to focus on Chloe Frazer, who had a brief relationship with Nathan Drake in Uncharted 2. Nadine Ross also makes a return after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, as Chloe hires her based on her association with a man named Asav, who is the antagonist for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Together, they must fight to locate a renowned Indian artifact before Asav gets his hands on it.
Naughty Dog revealed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy at the PlayStation Experience in December 2016, showing off gameplay. Whilst an official release date has yet to be announced by Naughty Dog, it is expected that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will release later this year.
