Sony will be closing the PlayStation Store on PlayStation Portable in North America on March 31.
After March 15, users in SCEA regions will no longer be able to purchase or download content by accessing the PlayStation Store on their PSP handheld consoles. In-app purchases will still be available on PSP even after the store closes.
The good thing is that your handheld will still be useable, and all of your past purchases will still be available from the download list. You will also be able to buy content via the SEN web store, along with some games on the Vita’s PSN store application.
There has been no news about the European storefront, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the same thing happens here also. This news is important for Vita owners, too, since the Vita’s backwards-compatibility with digital PSP titles is quite a draw – especially for fans of classic games and JRPGS.
Sony seem to also be considering axing the PlayStation TV.
