Ever since Shenmue 3 was announced during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference, the game has come under fire for not getting the look of the characters right. There have been some improvements since then, but many longtime fans are still a little worried. Well, some new screenshots have surfaced that certainly have the characters looking less stiff in the face.
Three new screenshots have materialized leading up to an event that the game will be appearing at called MAGIC 2018, where new gameplay and screenshots will be revealed. The first of the three screenshots show Ryo and Shenhua, who each look much more life-like when compared to the earlier screenshots, the other two shots show off some of the game’s environments, which are looking great. The first screenshot is above, with the final two being at the bottom of this post.
MAGIC 2018 will kick off on February 24th, and Yu Suzuki (creator of Shenmue) will be there himself. He will likely be giving more information on the game, though it remains to be seen if he will be revealing the game’s final release date. The game was originally set to launch at the end of last year, but was pushed back into 2018 as the devs needed more time to polish everything up.
Shenmue 3 is in development for PlayStation 4 and PC, and is currently slated to release at some point in the second half of 2018.
