Aion’s EU version has finally been made available on Steam which will hopefully expand the current player base.
As we discussed earlier, Aion’s EU publisher Gameforge has been planning the Steam launch for months and decided to prioritize it over the server merges. The game can now be accessed through Steam and by doing so players can obtain some nifty rewards.
Aion is still one of the best fantasy-themed MMORPGs in the current market, although the EU region is slightly falling behind NA and Korea in terms of server population. NCSoft, the developer of Aion, strives to release regular updates and not so long ago new classes have also been added. We are still waiting for the currently unknown musician class that was earlier hinted to be a healer.
The Steam release encourages players to join the Asmodian faction, which is slightly outnumbered by the Elyos on most of the servers. A guide has also been released that will help you move the game data to Steam without having to download it again. “On top of this, we are rewarding all players who opt to side with the outnumbered Asmodian faction: they’ll be given a Gold Pack for 15 days (cannot be traded). For this, the following requirements have to be completed by the end of the offer on 18/1/2016,” said Gameforge in an official post.
In order to be eligible for the rewards players must fulfill the following requirements:
- The account has to have been created after the Steam release.
- The account has to have been accessed via Steam.
- An Asmodian character has to have been created, and has to have reached at least level 8.
Players will receive the Gold Pack after reaching level 8 with their Asmodian characters.
Now that Gameforge is done with the Steam release, they can fully focus on the server merges that players are getting impatient about. Hopefully, the new wave of players arriving from Steam and the server merges that address balance issues will restore Aion’s popularity in EU, as it us truly a great MMORPG and deserves a lot more attention.
