While 2015 has been a relatively slow year for FPS games (the recently released Rainbow Six Siege has improved on that situation however), shooter fans have things to look forward to in 2016. One anticipated title is obviously Bethesda’s upcoming Doom game, a long anticipated title in the popular horror FPS franchise. Up until recently, alpha and beta events for the game have been limited to those who had pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order, but Bethesda have now announced that alpha event registration is now open to all players, on all platforms (PC, Xbox One and PS4).
The announcement came from the official Bethesda Twitter page, and more details will likely emerge in the coming days. That being said, the fact that you sign up for a chance of testing Doom in the future doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll actually get in, but there’s a good chance, so give it a go. To do so, you’ll have to visit the official Doom website and submit an application. You’ll be obviously later notified should you be lucky enough to get invited for any of the upcoming beta events. The forums for the closed alpha have also been opened, so you’ll be able to share thoughts with the community once you get into the event.
By popular demand, we’re opening #DOOM alpha access beyond our #DOOM Beta group. Xbox, Steam, and PS4 registration links incoming.

The first closed alpha for Doom will be taking place this weekend. The game is currently protected by an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), which means you won’t be able to share thoughts or stream footage. Doom is set to release in Q1/Q2 2016, but there isn’t an official and exact date for its release just yet. The game will feature a single-player campaign, as well as multiplayer, so fans of both should have something to sink their teeth into.
