The first Mario Party game and its follow-up will be accessible via Nintendo’s Switch Online service starting on November 2. The board games, which can be played with up to four friends and have a variety of themes, were first made available in the late 1990s on the N64. You roll a die to go forward, just like in every board game. You play a mini-game at the conclusion of each turn; some of them are solo games, while others require you to team up with or compete with others. If you don’t have somebody to play with, you could also use CPU-powered bots. There are 56 different mini-games to play in the original Mario Party, but there are 65 in the second one, including duel mini-games that weren’t present in the previous game.
Although these two will be accessible via the service in a few weeks, Nintendo has planned the launch of a number of additional N64 games. The video game behemoth will include Mario Party 3 in its lineup for Switch Online in 2023, along with the narrative-free strategy titles Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2. All of the games we’ve discussed so far were first offered on the N64, so in order to play them, you’ll need a Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. The cost of the tier for a single membership is $50. It costs slightly more than $4 per month, which is also the price of the basic subscription, but you must pay for the entire year at once.
