Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is considered by many to be one of the best arcade racers of recent memory, which makes the expectations for the follow-up in Team Sonic Racing pretty high. Well, it looks like Sega will be taking all the time they need to make sure it doesn’t disappoint, as the game has been delayed.
The official Sonic Twitter account announced today that Team Sonic Racing will now launch on May 21st, 2019. As for the reason for the delay, the account says that they’re “giving the team extra time to work on it” to make it the best it can be. This isn’t too different compared to most reasons given for delays, but at the end of the day if it ends up making the game great then it was worth it.
The game was originally set to release in the Winter of this year, making it a very late 2018 release. While a specific release date was never given, this means that the delay ends up being several months. Whether or not this is a result of a development snag or Sega simply wanting it to release in a better release window is anyone’s guess.
Team Sonic Racing will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on May 21st, 2019.
