The Last of Us: Part 2 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games on the horizon, with the first game being considered by many to be the best game of the last console generation. Developer Naughty Dog have been taking their time to ensure it lives up to the hype, and now the voice actor for Joel has revealed a playtest for the game has just been completed.
Joel voice actor Troy Baker recently took part in a panel at MCM Comic Con, revealing that Naughty Dog has completed a playtest for the game. This means that they have essentially run through a rough draft version of the game, and should mean that the release is in the not-too-distant future. He also added his own thoughts on the game, saying that it tells an amazing story and that it’s looking “awesome.”
We of course have to take this with a grain of salt, as those involved directly with the game obviously wouldn’t come out and say the game is looking like crap. Even still, considering the developer’s track record, it’s hard not to get excited for this game. The bits and pieces that we’ve seen so far have looked great, and will hopefully add up to a game that delivers on expectations whenever it releases. That will be nearly impossible, but who knows?
However, we need to keep our expectations in check, as it’s likely that the game won’t be releasing this year. Many have been pointing to the game having a 2019 release, though we’ll likely be getting more information on that later this year. It has been confirmed that The Last of Us: Part 2 will make an appearance at E3 2018, and it will likely be there where we get the full details on the game.
