A new action role-playing game is on the horizon called Extinction, which aims to bring an interesting twist to the usual formula. Players will be controlling a warrior whose goal is to take down giant ogres, as they threaten to make humanity extinct. Now the game’s ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) rating has been fully detailed, with the game receiving an M (Mature) rating.
The following is the complete breakdown of the ESRB’s Mature rating for Extinction:
“This is an action role-playing game in which players control a warrior (Aviil) as he attempts to save humanity from extinction by killing giant ogres and their minions. From a third-person perspective, players use swords to attack and kill ogres in melee-style combat; large blood-splatter effects occur when enemies are hit. Players must also climb and kill giant ogres by cutting off their limbs and eventually decapitating them. Dismemberment and decapitation are accompanied by large sprays of blood. Some animated cutscenes also depict violence: ogres smashing villagers with clubs; a bloodied man impaled by a large piece of wood; a character hitting an ogre in the head with a pickaxe.”
As you could probably tell from the game’s description, it sounds like things are going to be pretty brutal in Extinction. It definitely won’t be for the faint of heart, but considering there are millions of desensitized gamers out there who eat this stuff up… it likely won’t even phase them!
Extinction is being developed by Iron Galaxy and published by Maximum Games. The game is set to launch on April 10th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
